harmed…
Have you been harmed by another; emotionally, psychologically or physically? Are your behaviours harmful to you, causing you unease, pain or suffering? Have you struggled with physical or psychological ill health?
Are you feeling?
My approach
I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, offering a tailored approach that respects your unique experiences, history, and aspirations. I explore how past experiences influence the present, using a compassionate, evidence-based approach to foster understanding, self-compassion, and change. My promise is to provide a confidential, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe, be vulnerable, and work at your own pace.
Integrative, Relational Approach
I tailor therapy to your unique needs, exploring how your past shapes your present. Through a non-judgmental, evidence-based approach, I help you uncover patterns, find compassion for yourself, and awaken lasting change.
Specialist Areas of Support
I have a deep focus on relationship complexities, bereavement, family dynamics, and emotional wounds. Whether it’s navigating early life influences or addressing current relational challenges, I provide a safe space to explore and heal.
Creating a Safe, Trusting Connection
Therapy begins with trust. I offer a confidential and empathetic environment where you can be honest and vulnerable at your own pace, fostering a therapeutic relationship essential
for meaningful transformation.
How do I work
I work with all individuals aged 18 and over.
I believe that trust is the cornerstone of a therapeutic relationship, being honest in therapy will help form a strong therapeutic relationship, essential for you to feel heard and understood.
I have a special interest in working with relationship complexities, family dynamics, bereavement and loss. How, what we experienced in our early years has a tendency to repeat in our adult relationships.
Working relationally, I seek to gently unfurl your lived experience and the narrative that remains, understanding the impact of relational wounds, ruptures and understandable adaptations.
As you share your lived experience I will seek to understand, all that is said and even, what is not. Together we will uncover the origins of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and with awareness and compassion pursue positive change.
I work open ended and specialise working with client’s medium to long term.

About me
It might help you feel more settled, if I share a little about me; I am Lizi Gardner-White, a mum of twin daughters. Like many, I have both enjoyed and endured life. Experience of the latter has nurtured my inner empath and my opening position of non-judgment. I grew up down south and relocated to the East Midlands in the mid-90’s. Life and love have taken me all over the world, living in Australia and the US. However, I always seem to find myself back in the East Mids! Before children I had a fast-moving career in marketing and sales, working in London and finding myself responsible for gigantic revenues. At the time, it felt big and important and a heady mixture of ambition, accountability and fun. After my daughters arrived, life and I, changed significantly. It was the beginning of version 2.0. Lived experience found me needing someone to talk to, admitting I needed support beyond that offered by my family and friends and starting me on a new pathway. I share this with you, not because I am claiming to have all the answers but because I have learned the value of being honest, firstly to another and then more challengingly, to myself.

Sessions and Fees
I offer an initial 15-minute phone call (free of charge). When you make contact, we can chat briefly about what brings you into therapy and whether this is something I might be able to help you with. If it is not, I will attempt to refer you on to another therapist colleague.
I am able to offer face to face, 50 minute sessions for £55.
I work from a warm, confidential space in Derby (DE1). There is free, off street parking, toilets and disabled access.
Additionally, I am able to offer online and telephone sessions.
Our first session is an initial assessment, this enables me to find out a little more about your history, your life today and your wishes for therapy. This will enable us to determine whether we are the right therapeutic fit for each other. For you to decide whether it feels comfortable to work with me and for me to ascertain whether I am the right therapist for you.
We will then agree a session time and day, weekly or fortnightly and this will be your time thereafter.
